Govt planning to set up Magistrate Court at Mannar: CM

Thiruvananthapuram, Feb 2 : Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan today said the government was planning to set up a Judicial First Class Magistrate Court at Munnar to settle criminal cases related to land encroachment there with the permission of the High Court.


The Chief Minister said the government would take necessary action to set up a township at Munnar subject to its legal aspects.

The government would take legal advise for removing Check dams constructed illegally at Munnar, he said, adding the government would also continue the follow up action on the basis of Land Board Award of 1977.

The government would also take necessary steps to provide ''pattayams'' to those who had possessed land at Munnar well before January 1, 1977, he added.

Mr Achuthanandan said the Cabinet had authorised Revenue Minister, Home Minister and Water Resources Minister to implement the recommendations of the Sub-committee.
